Fairview Oil Mills

At the North Eastern end of the park beside the Cherrywood entrance you can see the ruins of Fairview Oil Mills. This mill was, like all the others that existed locally, powered by the river Camac.  There was a large mill pond, now dry, which can still be seen between the river and Cherrywood.

Fairview Mills
Take a short detour to cross the Camac via a small bridge known locally as 'Kavanaghs Bridge' after a family who lived at Fairview. You will see the remains of  the early 19th century mill which produced linseed oil. Though now in ruins, the building remains a striking landmark in the area. The site is no longer accessible for safety reasons.
